On Wednesday, Intel hired three semiconductor industry executives for engineering and networking roles as part of CEO Lip-Bu Tan\u2019s plan to revamp the leadership team and reorganize the struggling company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tan\u2019s strategy includes significant workforce reductions, onboarding new management talent, focusing on customer needs, and successfully transforming the company\u2019s foundry business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since his appointment as CEO in March, Tan has begun \u201cflattening\u201d the leadership structure \u2014 with many key operational units now reporting directly to him. Notably, Greg Ernst, a sales department veteran, was appointed Chief Revenue Officer. He previously led Intel\u2019s U.S. sales and marketing division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In line with Intel\u2019s renewed engineering focus, the company brought in Srinivasan Iyengar, Jean-Didier Allegreuci, and Shailendra Desai for top engineering roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGreg, Srini, JD, and Shailendra are world-class leaders with impeccable reputations in our industry. Each will play a vital role in shaping the future of our business,\u201d said Tan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Iyengar, who joined from Cadence Design Systems, will head Intel\u2019s new Customer Engineering Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Allegreuci, formerly a top executive at Rain AI, will lead AI system-on-chip development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Desai, who came from Google, will lead the design of new AI chip architectures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Iyengar will report directly to Tan, while Allegreuci and Desai will report to Intel\u2019s CTO and Chief AI Officer, Sachin Katti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additionally, Intel has reorganized its board of directors to focus more closely on semiconductor industry priorities.
